Al Ain Tour - Oasis & Historical Sites
Al Ain, known as "The Garden City Of The Gulf" has a history dating back to the 4th millennium BC. The town is an oasis and former caravan stop, built on a huge fertile plain. It is surrounded by magnificent red sand dunes and overlooked by a truly impressive mountain range. There is spectacular scenery along the journey from Dubai. Al Ain is located inland on the United Arab Emirates eastern border, at a focal point for journeys by excellent roads to Abu Dhabi Dubai and Sharjah The tour includes a camel market, zoo and museum containing old and new artifacts and Mesopotamian pottery. There are important archaeological digs at Hili, 10km (6 miles) from Al Ain. The stone tombs, including the famous Great Sepulcher, date back 5000 years. South of Al Ain is the Hafeet Mountain,
containing ancient tombs, pottery and swords. A drive along the impressive
winding Mountain Road to the Summit will yield magnificent views across
the city and its surrounds. There are more ancient sites worth visiting at Um Al Nar tombs and Badi’i Bent Saud.
