Sharjah Heritage Tour

Exploring the city's magnificent cultural side

Islamic Art Galleries & Museums

Situated north east of Dubai is Sharjah, one of the most culturally significant areas of the Arab world.

Sharjah has been elected the cultural city of the Arab World by the UNESCO for 1998 and is known for preserving its Islamic heritage.

Noted for its huge man-made lagoon (harboring the world's third largest fountain) and magnificent beaches, and is a perfect destination for water sports enthusiasts.

Sharjah is an excellent shopping center, with its souks containing hundreds of little shops selling a range of goods sufficient to bewilder the most determined shopper - from hi-fis to handicrafts, clothes, rugs, antiques, gold and silver.

Sharjah Museum housed in Al Hisn Fort, the traditional residence of the ruling family, built nearly 200 years ago. The contents are beautifully presented to cover the history of Sharjah. A short film will take you back in time.

This fascination tour of bye-gone era will take us to the Heritage village, which is the old souk (market place) used to be the commercial centre of Sharjah. Today, the souk has been restored with great charm to preserve its cultural heritage.

Wander along the narrow alleys past shops selling shells, old dhows, camel bags, dates and baskets. There is even an old leaf tobacco shop! Then walk through the finely restored house of the Naboodah family, which is the biggest in the complex.

We will then offer you a traditional Arabic coffee in the public coffee shop while relaxing.
